MER reactivated from its Winter Hibernation.
Bus drivers on the Isle of Man are currently in the middle of a ten-day strike that commenced on Saturday, 21 February 2026. The industrial action is being led by the union Unite in a dispute with the Department of Infrastructure (DoI) over pay and conditions.
To help mitigate the disruption, the Manx Electric Railway has been reactivated ahead of its usual seasonal start date to support commuters and schoolchildren

Most of the passengers travelled
between Laxey and Ramsey.
Special MER services are currently scheduled to run from Monday, 23 February to Friday, 27 February 2026. It is intended that trams arriving at Derby Castle, connect with buses for onward travel into Douglas city centre and to secondary schools.
