‘Will tourists visiting on a Monday or Tuesday get to ride along the prom?’

“Attempts will be made to run the horse trams on days when cruise ships are visiting the Isle of Man.

That’s the pledge from the infrastructure minister despite new timetables showing they’re not due to operate on Mondays and Tuesdays this year.

The DoI’s decision not to run the heritage railway on those days in 2023 was criticised by many who believed it was a missed opportunity due to the hundreds of visitors who came ashore.

The trams weren’t running on 14 August – the day the largest cruise liner ever to visit the Island anchored in Douglas Bay.

It had more than 2,000 passengers onboard.

At the time Isle of Man Transport said the horse tram timetables for the year were decided before the final itineraries for visiting cruise ships were known.

Tim Crookall told Manx Radio his department need to learn from the 2023 season and is ‘doing what we can with what we’ve got. Crookall’s comments can be heard HERE.”
