“A suitably qualified engineer is being sought by the Department of Infrastructure to come up with a strategy for the restoration of Tramway Terrace.
They must be listed on the Conservation Accreditation Register for Engineers and will be required to devise a process and methodology for the project within the safety restrictions currently in place.
The update was given in response to a written Tynwald question from Douglas Central MHK, and former Infrastructure Minister, Chris Thomas.
He asked his successor, Tim Crookall, if any decisions have been made in relation to the properties which were purchased from Douglas Borough Council in 2018.
Mr Crookall's reply states that his department has no record of any formal decisions made by either ministers or members in relation to the terrace but confirms various options have been considered.
Reports into the condition of the structure produced for the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture offered contradictory findings; two recommended demolition of the building on the promenade with the latest saying it could be restored.”
