“Daphne Caine warns data won't portray accurate picture of public's feelings.

The future of the Island's heritage railways remains in question, after a Garff MHK queried how maintenance will be impacted by cuts to the Department of Infrastructure's budget.

Daphne Caine believes there are suggestions reductions in the railway are on the horizon but wants guarantees from the Council of Ministers that they represent more to the Island than just what they bring financially.

Transport consultants Systra were appointed earlier this year to carry out an economic impact assessment into heritage railways - which is due to be published in September.

A public consultation is also in progress, but Mrs Caine thinks it lacks depth”.
