A Proposed New Book by Andrew Scarffe
May I make an appeal for possible assistance with a book about the Manx Electric Railway’s good services, of which I am in the early stages of compilation ? The proposed book will include, amongst other topics, descriptions of the goods services and rolling stock (including goods rolling stock proposed but not built); the MER’s unique mail service; the Bonner road/rail wagons, buildings and quarries, etc. I am confident that this will be an interesting book about an overlooked part of the Manx Electric Railway.
I am in the process of sourcing suitable photographs for the proposed book and wonder if anybody could assist ? In particular, I am seeking photographs of the goods rolling stock including the tower wagons; any unusual use of the goods stock, MER road goods vehicles and the buildings at Dhoon Quarry. I am particularly keen to locate a good quality image of an MER conductor emptying one of the lineside post-boxes.
