‘The politician in charge of tourism doesn't think so’
“The politician with responsibility for tourism on the Island doesn't want the horse trams to run along Douglas promenade next year.
Rob Callister MHK was speaking on Manx Radio's Perspective programme, alongside Enterprise Minister Laurence Skelly.
The pair were discussing a major talking point here - the impact of ongoing refurbishment works along Douglas promenade on residents, commuters, tourists, and especially local businesses.
The programme followed a public oral evidence session last
week, where five representatives of the Department for Enterprise gave evidence
to Tynwald's Environment and Infrastructure Policy Review Committee - including
Mr Callister and Mr Skelly.
Mr Callister's comments about the horse trams in Douglas came as he and the enterprise minister responded to listeners' questions, voiced by Dollin Mercer.”
The comments can be heard on Manx Radio’s website.
