On Saturday 30th June, as part of the Laxey Fair Celebrations, IoM Chief Minister Howard Quayle relaunched repainted MER Mail Van No.4 in Laxey Station. The van which was built by G.F.Milnes in 1894, will undoubtedly feature in this year’s MER 125th anniversary celebrations. The mail van which had been subjected to open storage at Ramsey for a prolonged period, was treated to a thorough rebuild which was completed early in 1993 by Booth Kelly of Ramsey Shipyard, it’s first appearance being on 3rd February for the launch of the launch of the Year of Railways commemorative stamps.
