Manx Electric Railway Celebrates 125th Birthday

'The Manx Electric Railway resumes tomorrow with the first service departing from Douglas at 9.40am.

Services will run from Friday 16 March until Monday 4 November.

Jason Moorhouse, MHK responsible for the Transport Services Division of the Department of Infrastructure said: ‘2018 is a very special year for our Manx Electric Railway as it celebrates its 125th birthday. Last year we saw nearly 228,000 customers use the railway and with a spectacular events programme planned in September to mark the celebration, we want to dramatically increase this number.’

Isle of Man Transport wishes to remind road users that trams will be out and about regularly from tomorrow and for everyone to take extra care when crossing the Manx Electric Railway lines.

Rush Hour on the Railways

Easter weekend will see four days of special events to be staged over all three railways – many of which can now be booked online for the first time via www.rail.im. Rush Hour on the Railways takes place 30 March to 2 April 2018 and there are events suitable for all members of the family as well as enthusiasts.'

Full details of all Heritage Railway events can be found on Isle of Man Transport's website.
