Summer solstice celebrations will be staged at Snaefell summit this Saturday (25 June 2016).

A number of tickets remain for the buffet dinner at the Snaefell Summit Restaurant prior to the celebrations with trams departing Derby Castle, Douglas, at 6.40pm or Laxey at 7.15pm.

But everyone is welcome to join the Vikings of Mann to mark the occasion, with mountain railway trams operating a special shuttle service from the Bungalow from 9pm. Return tram fares are £10 per person from the Bungalow, no booking required.

Tickets for the solstice celebrations and buffet supper are priced £39 per person including tram travel and must be purchased in advance at www.rail.im or from the Welcome Centre at Douglas Sea Terminal tel 662525. Bookings close 5pm Thursday.

Anji Street, Events Co-ordinator for Isle of Man Railways, says it will be a memorable night: ‘We are thrilled to welcome back the Vikings of Mann this year to lead everybody in a torchlight procession to the summit. They are planning to invoke the Norse gods to celebrate the power of the sun. Revellers can attach their blessings to a spell tree which will be cast into the bonfire to bring fertility and prosperity to men, women, crops and herds in the coming months,’ she explained.
