The Manx Electric Railway officially began its 2026 season today, the first to operate under the normal scheduled service. The first trams to operate this year began on Monday, 23rd February, part of an attempt to mitigate the effects of the ongoing strike by the Island’s bus drivers.

Cars No. 19, 21 and 22 were noted in service for the opening day. Car 21 operated the first departure of the season, leaving Douglas at 09:40.

For March, the railway is operating under Timetable B, which runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. However, due to the ongoing bus strike affecting Bus Vannin services, the March timetable has been extended to include Mondays and Fridays for the duration of the disruption.
