Further to the controversial part regeneration of Laxey station during the winter 2013-2014, work has commenced in the adjacent attractive Rose Gardens towards the next phase of the project.
Where the steps - by the side of the Snaefell Mountain Railway departure point, leading to the walkway and the main road - once stood, earth has been removed reducing the height of the access point, whilst a new walkway is being installed at the 'top' on of the gardens, approximately opposite the Mines Tavern public house. Two areas of the station have been given over to segregated storage compounds, whilst near to where work is being undertaken the newly laid last winter grooved trackwork has been covered by some of the removed earth. Across the station, little greenery remains of the once attractive and popular grassed area.
