“DOI planning to present business case for its future and reinstatement of horse tram lines to the Sea Terminal

It's hoped options for Tramway Terrace in Douglas will be made available in the next eight weeks.

The future of the registered building on the promenade has been the subject of debate in recent years.

A Heritage Impact Assessment is currently taking place to look at options and costs for the project.

But the Infrastructure Minister, Michelle Haywood, says 'once that's completed, they can put together a case for that and the extension of the tram lines to the Sea Terminal.'

She further continued, 'Once that's finalised, then we'll roll it all together and present it as a single business case. The Heritage Impact assessment, I'm expecting to take 6 to 8 weeks, but we're getting into that kind of Christmas period now. So probably closer to the eight weeks. There will be somewhere into early next year. The rest of the work on the reinstatement of the horse trams is already done. We're just waiting for what happens on Tramway Terrace.' "
