“A Douglas MHK wants to know when the horse trams will be reinstated along the entire length of the promenade - and what's happened to the length of track already purchased.
David Ashford wants to know when the Tynwald resolution will be fulfilled, and has tabled for the following questions for tomorrow’s
(June 18th) sitting of Tynwald:
Question 24:What has happened to the additional tram track that was purchased for the horse tram to run the full length of Douglas Promenade; where that track is being stored; and what condition it is in ?
Question 29: How his Department intends to honour the
Tynwald resolution of January 2017 that a single line tram track be laid
between the Sea Terminal and the War Memorial; and who made the decision to
divert, without consulting Tynwald, the financial provision which had been
voted in July 2017 on the understanding that this element would be included.
Currently the horses only run between Broadway and the Derby Castle Terminus.
Mr Ashford was asked whether he believed we would see the trams fully reinstated by the end of the century. “
Mr Ashford’s comments can be heard HERE.
Hansard concerning both relevant questions from this sitting of Tynwald will be reproduced here as soon as it has been made available.
