The first sitting Tynwald sitting of 2024 will include a number of questions relating to the Horse Tramway’s stables and the long awaited Systra ‘Heritage Railways Review’ which still has to be published in its entirety.

The relevant questions are as follows:

  • The Hon. Member for Garff, Mrs Caine, to ask the Minister for Infrastructure – Further to his responses in Tynwald on 21 November 2023 in respect of Tramway Terrace, what has been spent each year since 2018 on a) building maintenance and b) scaffolding; whether any urgent remedial action is being undertaken; whether a conservation engineer has been appointed; and how the Department will ensure retention of the building.
  • The Hon. Member for Garff, Mrs Caine, to ask the Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture – What planning enforcement action her Department intends to take in relation to Tramway Terrace.
  • The Hon. Member for Rushen, Mr Speaker, to ask the Minister for Infrastructure – When the SYSTRA Report will be published, and whether he feels it is independent.
  • The Hon. Member for Garff, Mrs Caine, to ask the Minister for Infrastructure – Whether his Department will allow heritage and tourism stakeholders to challenge the assumptions, findings and recommendations of the SYSTRA railway review report before or after it is published.
