‘Tynwald transcript shows Quayle didn't support full prom length tramway’
“The chief minister insists he's "personally committed" to seeing horse tram tracks relaid on Douglas promenade, despite Tynwald records showing he voted against doing so.
Speaking at the government's daily media briefing, Howard Quayle said he had backed keeping the tramway from Derby Castle to the Sea Terminal.
However, the Hansard transcript from the January 2017 sitting of the court shows Mr Quayle was one of 14 members to vote against Douglas East MHK Chris Robertshaw's proposals to add a single track from the War Memorial to the south end of the prom. Hansard from the sitting can be downloaded HERE.
The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed the prom scheme will now be completed without this section of the tramway in place by Easter next year, with a single line to be added at a later date.”
