Howstrake Holiday Camp
Popular Manx historian Peter Kelly is giving a talk which will detail the development of Howstrake Holiday Camp, at the next meeting of the Isle of Man Victorian Society. The camp which was served by the Manx Electric Railway, was the first commercial holiday camp in the British Isles, was opened by Joseph Cunningham who also operated another camp located at Little Switzerland in Douglas.
The
illustrated talk takes place in the Barbara Cottier Centre at St
Ninian’s School on Friday, April 28, starting at 8pm.
Non-members
are welcome to attend at a charge of £1.
The
audience is requested to use the Somerset Road entrance and proceed
to the car park adjoining Bray Hill.
