PRESS RELEASE from Douglas Borough Council - Last day of the Horse Tramway's 2015 operating season.
"This weekend is the last opportunity in 2015 to travel on the unique Douglas Bay Horse Tramway! As a special promotion, children accompanied by an adult travel free on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September. We will also have a variety of trams out on the road and on display at Strathallan, and a mini cavalcade on Sunday at 5.20 pm. You can also ‘meet and greet’ our Clydesdale horses in the stables. This is the 139th year that the horse trams have been running and we’re looking forward to our 140th when we are planning some special celebrations. Hope to see you this weekend."
This
will probably be the last opportunity to sample a ride on the Horse Tramway in
its traditional centre of the Promenade location. The future operation
and location of the tramway is still subject to great controversy and debate.
